Job Description

The Theatre Program of the Department of Communication and Theatre Arts at Old Dominion University seeks to hire a full-time Lecturer (non-tenure-track). The program seeks a costume artist, craftsperson, and teacher to join the faculty of its ambitious and collegial Theatre Program. This position is a recurring 10-month contract that begins in July 2018, with full benefits.

Teach courses in costume design, costume construction, and theatre appreciation. Supervise the costume studio and design costumes for two campus productions annually. Support the ongoing activities and growth of the Theatre Program, including advising, recruiting, and strategic planning.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities

Record of teaching success, and at least two years’ experience supervising an academic or professional costume studio.

Minimum Qualifications - Education or training

MFA in Costume Design or related field. If the degree requirements are not met, then exceptional professional experience and/or substantial evidence of teaching excellence may be presented in lieu of some formal academic credentials for teaching in accordance with the SACSCOC guidelines for exceptional credentialing.

Experience in professional theatre and student mentoring.
