Job Description

The Exercise Science program in the Human Movement Sciences (HMS) Department at Old Dominion University is pleased to announce a full-time Lecturer position beginning in the fall semester of 2018.

Duties include teaching undergraduate courses in the Exercise Science program. Examples of courses that the candidate may teach include (but are not limited to) Introduction to Exercise Science, Anatomical Kinesiology, Prevention and Care of Injuries, Lifetime Fitness and Wellness, Nutrition for Fitness and Sport, Exercise Physiology, and Exercise Testing. Duties also include advising undergraduate students and serving on departmental, college, and university committees.

The Exercise Science program has over 700 undergraduates and is fully accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for the Exercises Sciences under the auspices of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. The department is housed in a building that includes state-of-the-art instructional and research facilities.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities

Candidates should demonstrate evidence of excellence in teaching or potential for outstanding teaching at the collegiate/university level.

Minimum Qualifications - Education or training

Candidates are required to have a master’s degree in exercise science or related field with at least 18 credit hours of graduate coursework in exercise science.

Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification
Preferred Qualifications

An earned doctorate in exercise science or related field is preferred. For applicants with a doctoral degree, teaching graduate coursework is possible.
