Job Description

Full-time tenure track position at the assistant or associate professor rank. Duties include teaching courses in the sport management curriculum, developing and maintaining a nationally visible research program, and providing service to the university, college, department, profession and community.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities

The successful applicant is expected to have a strong commitment to scholarship and research and the ability to employ effective teaching practices. The applicant must have the ability to teach a variety of sport management courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise graduate (MS and PhD) student research, and serve on committees. Candidates at the Assistant level must show potential to develop and maintain a nationally visible research program, including grant submission that is consistent with the research mission of the Department of Human Movement Sciences. Candidates at the Associate level must demonstrate substantial research accomplishments of peer-reviewed publications, a consistent record of seeking grant funding, and a strong and successful graduate and undergraduate teaching and mentoring record.

Minimum Qualifications - Education or training

Doctoral degree in sport management or related field.

Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification
Preferred Qualifications

Expertise in the area of sport finance. Ability to teach sport finance and one or more of the following courses: sport analytics, sport facility management, sport management & leadership theory, and sport media & public relations. Other preferred qualifications include experience developing and teaching online courses, experience as a practitioner in the sport industry, and the ability to work in a diverse and multicultural community.
