Job Description

•Teach introductory physics and astronomy courses.
•Occasionally teach higher level undergraduate courses, as needed by the department.
•Develop new laboratory exercises for the introductory laboratories, including online courses.
•Develop lecture and outreach demonstrations
•Collaborate on departmental service work directly related to the introductory courses, including the development of new curricula

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities

Excellence in teaching, as evidenced from:
• Experience in teaching college level physics or astronomy courses and labs as the instructor of record; or
• Other experience (minimum 2 year) demonstrating potential for excellence in teaching physics and astronomy.
• Candidates must demonstrate interest, experience and/or ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to diverse needs, including universal accessibility, of our students, faculty, staff and the public.

Minimum Qualifications - Education or training

M.S. Degree (or equivalent) in Physics or closely related field.

Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification
Preferred Qualifications

• Undergraduate (beyond the introductory level), graduate training, or professional experience in Astronomy or Astrophysics
• Demonstrated experience developing new course curricula.
•Expertise allowing the selected candidate to teach in an area of specialization within Physics, beyond the expectation to teach core Physics and Astronomy courses;
•Experience with software & hardware frequently used in undergraduate labs and tutorials, e.g. Pasco, National Instruments, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ioLab, MatLab, Mathematica…
